                                                   INVASION OF CHAOS

Preface

Two weeks have passed after the incident on Space Colony ARK. With Shadows help, Sonic was able to destroy the Bio lizard and send the ARK back into space, but… at a high price of a friend. After that, life on Earth went back on the old tracks. Eggman escaped from the Space Colony and they haven’t heard of him since, Knuckles returned back with the Master Emerald on Angel Island to guard it, Rouge decided to give up her charier as jewel thief and continued to work for President as secret government agent and Sonic and the rest of the gang went on with their lives back at Station Square. However, our heroes, especially Sonic and Rough, continued to ask themselves one and the same question:
WHAT HAPPENED TO SHADOW?!

Chapter 1: The Disturbing Dream

Shadow was lying on the ground until he opened his eyes.
“What the-? W-where am I?”
Confused, he stood up and turns aground to see what this place is. He was standing in the total darkness, all alone.
“Is this place Hell or something?” he said.
“Help!” he suddenly heard a scream and turned aground.
He saw a big gem that looked like a sapphire and in it there was a blond girl, which wore blue dress. Of curse, Shadow immediately recognized her. It was Maria.  
“Shadow, please help me!” she cried.
“Maria, don’t worry, I’m coming!” Shadow said.
He run toward her, but before he could even reach her something unsuspecting happened. A giant liquid creature emerged from the floor. Blue like crystal clear water, with huge red glowing eyes and in a form of a giant serpent, it stared at them. Shadow soon realized that the background aground him changed. The darkness vanished, but it was replaced by a giant city that was completely destroyed and sunken in water. Suddenly, one of the creature’s tentacles stretched and grabbed the stone with Maria in it.
”Leave her alone, you fiend!” Shadow yelled, but the creature didn’t respond to his call.
Instead, it opened its huge jaws and swallowed the gem stone.
“MARIA, NOOOO!” Shadow screamed when he saw what happened.
Then the creature body structure began to change. It turn into a giant humanoid covered with scales. When he stopped changing, he turned toward the black hedgehog and with deep voice it began to speak:
“My powers have returned back to me again. Soon my reign of destruction will spread and you pathetic mortal weaklings and my brother will pay for what you did to me. But first I’ll take your powers, to make sure you won’t stand in my way. Goodbye, Shadow the Hedgehog.”
The beats smashed his fist into the ground so it could squish him, but Shadow was luckily able to escape just in time. As he continued to dodge the monsters strikes, he began asking himself:
“What in the world is this thing? How does it know my name?”
But then, Shadow was grabbed by creature’s scaly arm and forced him to the ground, so that he could no longer move. The beast started to drain life energy from his body. He began to feel weak and believed he is done for.
“Maria… I’m sorry… I failed in keeping your promise…” he began talking in his mind.
“I did save the world from catastrophic collision …but there is a new evil in this world…I’m sorry I couldn’t protect the innocent…but I left the world in good hands…I did what I could…to make them happy…
I’ve learned from past mistakes and… I see now you didn’t make me promise revenge…you made me promise peace…
If I was given a second chance I wouldn’t be earth’s nemesis …I would be its protector.”
Suddenly, a powerful light appeared from the sky. The creature, blinded by its power, dropped him and vanished in the air. Shadow, lying on the ground, barely alive, noticed a black figure coming from it. As it came closer, the hedgehog was able to see its form. He looked like an angel. It had great shining wings, was wearing a red robe and a golden helm in a form of a hood, but from under it; he was only able to see his yellow glowing eyes. When the angel landed in front of the black hedgehog, he heard its voice:
“Then so be it, Shadow the Hedgehog. Return to the light.”
The darkness took him and the last thing he heard was a Maria’s scream.
